Swim Team Week 5- READ EVERYTHING!
Were finally at the time for the first meet! SO DROP EVERYTHING YOUR'E DOING AND MAKE SURE YOUR SWIMMER(S) ARE DECLARED!!!! Whether you will be there or not please do so, if you do not, your child will not be able to compete.
I thought we had a productive week of swim last week with many of our swimmers doing very well with butterfly despite it bring such a difficult stroke. The team performed well during time trials and I am excited to see how they do during the first meet.
Shout Out Of The Week goes out to all of our first time swim team members regardless of age! Our experienced swimmers know what to expect regarding practices and time trials, but all of this can seem like a lot for someone who has never experienced it before. I thought many of our newbies have handled it really well!
MEET SCHEDULE
Monday, June 3: @ Millbridge (1401 MillBridge Parkway, Waxhaw, NC 28173) - arrive at 5:15, meet starts at 6.
As soon as swimmers arrive at the meet they will need to check-in and stay with their designated coach.
Shrimpers: Coaches Georgia and Eva
Barracudas 7-8: Coach Caroline
Barracudas 9-10: Coach Jack
Barracudas 11+: Coach Alayjah
Keeping all of the kids and organized is a huge task, we ask that parents do their part by having them sit with their coach and teammates to ensure they do not miss any of their races!
Make sure your swimmer wears their BCC swimsuit, if they do not have it, it has to be a plain navy suit (can not have MSA or Swimmac on it)
Swimmers can only participate in 3 individual events and 4 relays for a max of 7 events, so your child will not swim all of the strokes.
Thursday, June 6: @ Hunter Oaks More info to come
Practice Schedule
Week 5 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday)
5:00-5:45- Shrimpers ages 6 and under
5:45-6:45- Barracudas ages 7-10
6:45-7:45- Barracudas ages 11+
We will work this week more on our starts and some relay work, in addition to whatever we see from the first meet that we may need to work on.
Last Note!!! I am challenging our parents! regardless of if we are winning or losing, whether it is your child or someone else's. I want to have the loudest sideline at every meet this year. I have heard this has been the case in the past and I want that tradition to continue. It is huge for our swimmers to have that support and I want every meet (even the away meets) to feel like were at home. I will be giving a special shoutout after each meet to our loudest parent and an award at the end of the season for the Ultimate Fan/Most Embarrassing Parent (this should be fun after all).
Thank you all for everything so far this season, and I look forward to seeing you all out there on Monday!
